Advanced Fire-Resistant Glass Solutions

At T Grup Cam, we offer a wide range of fire-resistant glass solutions, combining fire protection with additional functionalities such as burglary resistance, noise reduction, thermal insulation, and light control. Our fire-resistant glass can be integrated with laminated, colored, reflective, and low-emission glass, ensuring both safety and architectural flexibility.

We have the expertise and technology to process fire-resistant glass with short lead times, maintaining the highest manufacturing standards. It is crucial to note that transforming fire-resistant glass into double-glazed units requires specialized manufacturing techniques, as improper handling can compromise its fire-resistant properties. To prevent gel bonding contamination, the glass edges must be protected using special aluminum foil. Contact with aggressive substances in air or water may degrade the glass layers, reducing their fire-resistant effectiveness.

Proper Handling & Installation Precautions

🔹 Precise Installation is Essential – During the fitting of fire-resistant double-glazed units, special precautions must be taken to protect the glass edges from damage. If the protective layer securing the edges is compromised, the glass may lose its fire-resistant properties, leading to faster flame spread and reduced evacuation safety.

🔹 UV Protection Before Installation – If there is a significant time gap between the glass manufacturing and installation, the inner surface must be protected from UV exposure, as it lacks PVB foil protection.

🔹 Client Awareness & Manufacturer Guidelines – Before processing orders, clients must be informed about the general application criteria set by glass manufacturers. The company responsible for processing fire-resistant glass into double-glazed units cannot be held accountable for loss of fire-resistant properties due to improper installation.

At T Grup Cam, we ensure that every fire-resistant glass unit meets international safety standards, providing superior protection and long-term reliability.

Classification of Fire-Resistant Glass

At T Grup Cam, our fire-resistant glass products comply with three essential safety criteria defined in building standards, ensuring protection against fire, smoke, and heat transmission.

Fire-Resistant Glass Categories:

🔹 Class E (Fire Resistance):

  • Creates a barrier against flames, gases, and smoke, but does not reduce heat transfer.

🔹 Class EW (Fire Resistance & Radiation Retention):

  • Prevents the spread of flames, gases, and smoke while limiting thermal radiation to 15 kW/m².

🔹 Class EI (Fire Resistance & Insulation):

  • Offers complete protection by blocking flames, gases, smoke, and heat transfer.
  • The temperature on the non-exposed surface must not rise by more than 140°C above the ambient temperature, with a maximum limit of 180°C.

The fire-resistant classification of glass is further defined by time ratings (in minutes) indicating how long the glass maintains its fireproof and fire-insulating properties under extreme conditions.

Certification & Compliance

Our fire-resistant glass has undergone extensive testing in various countries, meeting local safety standards. However, in accordance with building regulations, certifications apply to complete fire-resistant glazing systems, not to individual glass panes. Investors and project managers must obtain certification from the system manufacturer or supplier, as the fire-resistant properties depend on the full glazing system, including frames and installation methods.

UV Protection & External Applications

Fire-resistant glass used in external applications must be protected against UV radiation. Since the gel layers in fire-resistant glass are sensitive to UV exposure, external installations require additional PVB foil protection on the most exposed glass surface. For internal applications, fire-resistant glass should be placed at least 3.5 meters away from an unprotected external glass surface to prevent UV degradation.

At T Grup Cam, we provide customized fire-resistant glass solutions that meet international safety standards, ensuring optimal fire protection for commercial, industrial, and residential projects.
